Herbs - Smokepaw

Swiftstream sat in her den waiting for her apprentice Smokepaw to come back from fetching some watermint. She licked one paw absentmindedly still waiting.

[Smokepaw]

Smokepaw padded in the medicine cat den with watermint in her mouth. she dropped the plant fresh with dew right in front of Swiftstream. "Here's the watermint swiftstream," she meowed after her mouth was empty.

Swiftstream nodded and carefully picked up the watermint and stored it on teh herb shelf with the other herbs. Then she padded back and looked at Smokepaw for a minute before asking, "Smokepaw, what do we use Watermint for?"

{you may check the herb list in the fieldguides but you have to make some mistakes now and then since it is impossible to know all teh herbs in only a few days}

[Smokepaw]

"ummm...," Smokepaw thought for a moment," Aching joints, cleaning wounds, or whitecough?" she took a guess, expecting to get it incorrect, but waiting in anticipation for an answer anyways.

"Actually we use it for bellyache and to help pregnant she-cats give birth" Swiftstream corrected her. She smiled though and meowed, "It's ok, you only just started" She thought for a momment then asked, "Is watermint applied in a poltice or eaten?"

[Smokepaw]

Smokepaw quietly said,"Eaten... i think..." she stared at Swiftstream with big, round eyes.

Swiftstream purred, "Good job, now listen carefully" she meowed and padded over to the herb store and pulled a small pile of leaves toward her, "These are Crushed Iris Leaves" she meowed, "Scent them, remember them. We use them to stimulate breathing during the birthing process. This can also be used for a kit’s sore throat."

[Smokepaw]

Smokepaw smelled them and replied,"Simulate breathing and kit's sore throsts, got it!" She twitched her nose when the smell of the plant would not leave it.

Swiftstream smiled, "It has a thick scent doesn't it, it does smell good though" she meowed as she put the herbs back in place and pulled out a honeycomb. "Here have some, you deserve a treat" she meowed setting the honeycomb down before Smokepaw.

[Smokepaw]

"Thanks," she purred, twitching her tail in excitment. she sat down and devoured the sweet treat, licking her paws and lips when done.

Swiftstream watched her in amuzement and then asked, "Do we use honey for anything else besides a treat?"

{check that one in teh herb list if your not sure cause you need to get that one right}

[Smokepaw]

Smokepaw was searching her mind for an answer. "Oh!!!! Honey is used for soothing sore throats," Smokepaw purred. That was the first herb she learned.

Swiftstream nodded, "Good job, that is a very important herb, but one of the basics" she meowed and then thought for a momment, "What do we use borage leaves for?"

[Smokepaw]

"Borage leaves are for fevers, as are feverfew and lavender," she said, thinking about the sweetsmelling purple flower whcih was her favorite herb

(did u know lavender helps people/animals sleep? my aunts a herboligest ((don't care if i spelled that wrong)) )

"Actually borage leaves are great for nursing queens as it helps to increase their supply of milk" she meowed correcting her apprentice.

{I just check the herb list and noticed there was a mistake in it. I deleted the newst post since i have found a lot of mistakes in it. I copied that one from another site but mine is better. I got PROOF on those herbs.......it too me forever though. I had to read through all the book sa second/third time and whenever I found a herb I had to write down the page # and book and type up what the herb does}
